The "We're a Family" boys get their due.
When Game On! Minnesota asked ESPN if we could be the first to share the trailer for the Hockey Hair feature debuting on E:60 next Tuesday night, honestly we had no idea it’d be this damn good.
We probably should have figured. After all producer Mike Farrell was a good Canadian boy who knew his hockey, and he had been nothing but classy since he tracked us down 6 months ago to ask about doing a feature on the culture of hockey hair in Minnesota. Of course we said yes to the story because we loved the idea of spotlighting the greatest high school hockey tourney on the planet, not to mention The Land of 10,000 Locks.
Things only got better when we heard Barry Melrose was doing the interview. If you’re wondering, “Uncle Barry” is just as cool as you’d think he would be. Maybe cooler.
Barry visits The Land of 10,000 Locks, and at least two pulled pork sandwiches.
Creation No. 0028
But hands down our favorite part of the ESPN experience (besides watching the trailer that’s about to blow your hair back), was a little detail we noticed on the shoot. When the camera crew came to film the footage of Barry sitting-in on the making of The All Hockey Hair Team with us, we noticed that all the foam packing material the camera crew was using to load up their gear had the same odd shaped cutout. What is that shape you ask? Oh, yeah, that’s an Emmy. That’s right, ESPN has won so many Emmys they pack their camera equipment with the empty Emmy casings. #Ballers.
OK, so here it is. Buckle your seat belts and get ready to beam with pride because ESPN is about to pump our tires Minneflowta. And from the looks of it, they’re going to do a pretty fine job.
Tune in next Tuesday May 10th at 9pm CST on ESPN to see the full feature on E:60.

Of course the password is “hair.” Of course it is.
Recognize that shape? Yeah, it’s an Emmy.
